Back in the day, British Columbia was a regulated market, meaning that utilities had a monopoly over the whole supply and delivery of energy to customers throughout the province. This meant that you couldn’t choose who generated the power and were bound to the utility in your local area.
The government of British Columbia thought this wasn’t fair, and passed legislation to separate energy services into two parts—supply and delivery.
As a result of deregulation, residents of British Columbia can choose the energy supplier they prefer. You can now benefit from alternative prices, plans, and customer service options to find an energy company that suits you.
