Mississauga, ON, May 30, 2012 - Saskatchewan residents and businesses now have some new options available regarding their natural gas supply as Just Energy, a leading competitive North American retailer of natural gas, electricity and green energy, brings its EcoChoice™ Natural Gas Program to the province.
With EcoChoice, customers can enjoy a special introductory price on their natural gas supply for the first year of the program and the stability of a competitive, protected supply rate for the remainder of their term. In addition, customers who enrol in EcoChoice will automatically have 20% of their natural gas consumption offset through the company's JustGreen™ carbon offset program, with the opportunity to upgrade and offset 100% of their natural gas consumption. Not only does the program offer choice and stability, customers can also reduce their carbon footprint at the same time.
Just Energy customers can also enjoy savings of 30% on energy efficient home products that can be purchased directly from the company's online SmartShop.
This is not the company's first introduction to the province. Just Energy also owns and operates Belle Plaine-based ethanol producer Terra Grain Fuels - one of the largest wheat-based ethanol facilities in North America. A clean-burning, renewable fuel, ethanol is primarily used as a gasoline fuel additive, which helps to reduce harmful exhaust emissions.
Wherever possible, the company looks to support green energy projects in the communities they serve. The Terra Grain Fuels facility is one more way that Just Energy is working to address the environmental impact of carbon emissions while also supporting local green energy projects and the local wheat farming industry. The ethanol is produced from approximately 15 million bushels of wheat purchased from local farms.
"As a company, we continuously strive to deliver products and programs that meet the evolving needs of energy consumers everywhere," says Ken Hartwick, Just Energy's President and CEO. "Our products are designed to maximize choice, control and stability for consumers in their energy supply options. Now, with our EcoChoice Program in Saskatchewan, we're pleased to build in environmental value by incorporating a carbon offset program to help customers reduce their ecological impact."
Just Energy representatives will be in communities across the province in the coming weeks to provide information about the options now available to Saskatchewan residents and businesses.
