Social Service Agencies to Receive Support through Just Energy Donation to United Way Toronto
Toronto, Ontario, December 22, 2011 - Social service agencies across Toronto will receive a funding boost to support community needs thanks to a $10,000 donation to the United Way Toronto by Just Energy. United Way Toronto is the only major funding organization that delivers significant core operating support to social service agencies.
"Just Energy is a proud supporter of United Way Toronto for its positive community impact and strategies that improve social conditions in our city," said Ken Hartwick, CEO and President of Just Energy. "In many ways, the mission of the United Way Toronto and the charitable mission of Just Energy share much common ground. We are pleased to do our part to benefit the communities we serve."
The Just Energy donation will be allocated to United Way Toronto's Community Fund which aims to improve immediate social needs of individuals and families as well as address root causes of major social problems. Beneficiaries of the Community Fund include single parents, women who have suffered abuse, young children and teenagers, the elderly, the physically challenged, the homeless and immigrants.
United Way Toronto's base funding support provides stability and allows agencies the flexibility to develop and respond to emerging needs of the communities they serve.
"Just Energy exemplifies a profound commitment to community," said Susan McIsaac, President and CEO of United Way Toronto. "Together with the United Way, they're creating opportunities for people to build a better life for themselves - and a stronger community for us all."
